This veterinarian position serves as the expert in veterinarian responsibilities for planning, coordinating, and directing veterinary science activities in Animal Care & Control. The primary purposes of this position are to examine and triage animals entering the facility, develop and oversee appropriate treatment plans for animals requiring emergency or ongoing medical care, development and oversee appropriate behavior plans for animals, monitor the health and care of animals housed at the shelter, and acts in the capacity of expert witness as needed. This position will have some supervisory responsibilities, including the supervision of contractual veterinarians. This position requires medical/behavioral knowledge of animals including domestic, agricultural and exotic. The work requires knowledge of the policies, procedures, and regulations of the state veterinary science.
