Introducing MVMA's New Executive Director

I am thrilled to join MVMA as your new executive director, and I could not be more excited to get to work.

As the go-to agency for animal healthcare advocacy and policy, I will look toward concentrating on the association’s mission, alongside the vision and goals, of “offering support to the membership in providing quality veterinarian care with state of the art process, delivering the information you need to be effective.”

Change is always afoot in animal healthcare initiatives, and I am proud to lead this innovative organization in maximizing the efforts of animal healthcare.

My resume and credentials include 24 years of executive planning, administration, sales, training and marketing expertise in both private and nonprofit sectors, with 12 years of association management experience.

I have served as the executive director for a transportation law industry association for the past 10 years. Prior to this appointment and my work with local non-profits, my professional background includes sales management for Allstate Insurance Company and work with an award-winning regional marketing/public relations firm. During a 17-year tenure with non-profits, I have managed membership services, publications, educational programming, and website development.

I have also designed and initiated programs targeted at membership growth and publication penetration through member volunteers. As membership is the key component of any association, I look forward to working with you and focusing on member involvement at all levels of the association. Hopefully we can also start to utilize the outreach of social media to stay in constant contact with brief, yet useful information.

While committed to serving my clients and their members, I am also committed to my community work and involvement. I was the founding president of Friends of the Light House Shelter in Annapolis, MD, which is a non-profit fundraising board to support the shelter, and I continue to take great pride in that role. This effort has proven to be a consistent seed for outreach and awareness of homelessness to the community. Additionally, I have served on and chaired numerous committees over time to include: The Key School, St. Anne’s Church, Hammond Harwood House, and Eastport Yacht Club.

I attended Ithaca College for management studies and earned a BS in marketing with a minor in Textiles from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science (now Philadelphia University). When not at my desk, I can usually be found on the sidelines of the lacrosse field watching my son, Ben. I reside in Annapolis, with my family, husband David, also a former college lax player, and Ben. Together we enjoy golfing, boating and just relaxing on the bay.

In closing, it will be my pleasure to serve as your executive director and partner with each of you. We have a great deal of work ahead of us and with your support, we will embark on a sensational new journey.
