Chris Runde, DVM Named
2010 Maryland Distinguished Veterinarian

Chris H. Runde, DVM has been
selected to receive The Maryland Distinguished
Veterinarian Award in recognition of and in appreciation
for his outstanding leadership, dedication and continued
commitment to the Veterinary Profession. Dr. Runde is a
1981 Magna Cum Laude graduate of University of Maryland
College Park with a degree in agriculture. He then went
on to receive his doctorate in veterinary medicine from
Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary
Medicine in 1985. He is also a 1978 graduate of Snow
Hill High School.
Dr. Runde has been a member
of the American Veterinary Medical Association since
1981 and a member of the Maryland Veterinary Medical
Association since 1985. From 1985-1987, Dr. Runde worked
as an associate veterinarian at Squire Veterinary
|
Clinic in Upper Marlboro, MD. In
1987, he co-purchased Tidewater Veterinary Hospital in Charlotte
Hall, MD.
In 2003, Dr. Runde was appointed to
the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners and in 2004 he
was elected president. He is also the secretary of the Maryland
Veterinary Foundation, the Maryland Veterinary Medical
Association’s scholarship committee.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Runde
is also heavily involved with his community. He was on the Board
of Directors of the Summerseat Sanctuary, a working historic
farm in St. Mary’s county. He also wrote an “Ask the Vet” column
for Equine Athlete magazine. Dr. Runde continues to serve as
adjunct faculty with the Senior Preceptor Program at
Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. |
