Diagnosis and Management of Foal Diarrhea
This lecture includes a brief overview of the pathogenesis of
diarrhea, examination and approach to treatment of a foal with
diarrhea, discussion of how to feed foals with diarrhea and a review
of rotavirus, Clostridium difficile, Clostridium perfringens and
Lawsonia intracellularis.

completed by an international group of veterinarians, riders and
trainers at the Sha Tin Olympic Venue in Hong Kong in 2007.

Acute and Chronic Vomiting in Dogs and Cats: Parts 1, 2 and 3
Diagnosis and management of this common presenting complaint will be
emphasized starting with a practical diagnostic approach to minor
cases and then reviewing suggested work-up for more chronic cases.
Antiemetic therapy will be reviewed. Dietary sensitivity, gastric
hypmotility, IBD as a cause of vomiting and the more common causes
of vomiting in cats will all be discussed. Esophagitis, which occurs
more frequently than is diagnosed, will also be highlighted.

Acute and Chronic Diarrhea in Dogs and Cats: Parts 1, 2 and 3
Diagnostic approach for the problems of both acute and chronic
diarrhea will be reviewed. Emphasis will be on Giardia, Clostridium
perfringens enterotoxicosis, cryptosporidiosis, Tritrichomonas
foetus of cats, pancreatic insufficiency, inflammatory bowel disease
and chronic colitis in both dogs and cats. Therapy will be discussed
for each of the listed disorders.

Wellness Programs in General Practice: What, Why and How to
Implement: Parts 1 and 2
This seminar will provide an overview of the rationale for routinely
testing apparently well patients, components of test programs for
both younger and older pets and ways to successfully implement
wellness testing. For senior pets, the importance of testing beyond
just a blood panel and urinalysis will be discussed. Case examples
will be shown and there will be an emphasis on diagnosis and case
follow up once abnormalities have been identified.

Middle Age Obesity, Insulin Resistance and Laminitis: Equine
Metabolic Syndrome
EMS represents a common and increasingly challenging health concern
for horses. This lecture will cover the significance, pathogenesis,
diagnosis and current treatment strategies for Equine Metabolic
Syndrome. An overview of current research initiatives will also be
presented.
Thyroid Disease in Horses
Equine Thyroid Disease (specifically hypothyroidism) has been
propagated in the veterinary literature despite the fact there is
little evidence hypothyroidism is a significant problem in horses.
This lecture will review the current knowledge of thyroid gland
dysfunction in horses.

Diagnosis of Liver Disease in Dogs and Cats
A review of liver screening tests, clinical utility of bile acids
assay, liver biopsy techniques, clinical utility of laparoscopy in
private practice for obtaining liver biopsies under direct
visualization and many case examples.
Update on Management of Liver Disease in Dogs and Cat
An overview of both conventional therapies and newer drugs. Chronic
active hepatitis, cholangiohepatitis, hepatic lipidosis in cats,
recognition and management of steroid hepatopathy and copper
hepatotoxicosis will all be reviewed.
